About ARI

ARI teaches the internationally recognised Graduate Diploma for Teaching English to Speakers of other Languages (TESOL), and organises language and literacy inservice programs for teachers and administrators.

The Institute conducts and supports teaching and research informed by Professor Michael Halliday’s systemic functional linguistics.

The Institute’s present research focus is on the functions of language in education, specifically in curriculum design, languages teaching and teacher education.
